Do Not Expose Him To Failures!!

"Do Not Expose Him To Failures!!"
I overheard a school principal telling a disheartened mother. Being brought up under the influence of a school of thoughts which said ‘Try and try again and again, and you will succeed at last’, I couldn’t help asking the very sad mother what the problem was.  The mother replied in most defending manner, “My son is very brilliant. He is only 12 years old and has won many prizes both in academics and in sports. He is school Captain, but the school which he is studying in is not the best school in the country and for last three years, I am trying to get him admitted to this particular school which is the best school in the whole world. Every year, he appears for entrance tests for this school. Every year, the school is giving admission to ‘10’ new students but they are rejecting my son. I am shocked and worried about my son’s future”. I gave a comforting nod to the woman and told her, “Madam, please give serious thought to what the principal has said. It is not a fault of your son that every year, there happen to be ‘10’ better students than him”.

We often tend to think that life is a race and only those who lead the pack can get the best of everything. Nothing can be further away from truth than this. Life is not a RACE, life is a JOURNEY. Reaching destination is not the purpose of life. Also, every person has a different destination to choose from a multitude. Participating in journey is the purpose. Life is buffet, wherein you have to enjoy every dish, slowly and comfortably.

One must move in the comfort zone that suits him or her most. Within our comfort zone, we are always happy. One must try to analyze and understand one’s capacity, likings, aptitude and the situation in order to know the comfort zone.  If one is moving with a pace and style which is comfortable, then life is fun. Then, one can see flowers blooming, can listen to birds singing and can enjoy sound of rain drops. In your comfort zone, it is easy to clap for and cheer for those who are zooming ahead.

At the end of the day, the happiest person is not the one who has striven , struggled and reached the goal but the person who can sincerely, wholeheartedly applaud and clap for other person’s success.

We all are like that ‘12’ year old son and we also do play role of that lovely mother but we must make sure that we “We Do Not Expose Him to Failures”.
