"But , I Know"

But, I know!!!!

They were married for 60 years, one soul two bodies.

They lived life together.

Laughed, cried, toiled, enjoyed, worked, relaxed and even aged together.

Only destiny could separate them,

and DID.

The lady had a stroke and went into coma.

She was lying motionless in the hospital

and he was nowhere except her bedside.

He helped nurses to feed her and bathe her

He made her bed and her hair

He read her stories, told her jokes.

Every morning he would wear his walking shoes

and simply sit for hours holding her hand.

The days and weeks passed.

The hospital nurses and doctors were seeing

futility of the old man's efforts.

One day the doctor said,

"Grandpa, why are you going through all this trouble?

She does not even know why you are doing all this

She does not even know who you are".

The old man replied,

"Son, but I know who she is and that is why

I am doing what I am doing"
