Google :Wi-Fi in 500 train stations across India
Google to install Wi-Fi in
400 train stations across India, promises to cover the busiest 100 stations in
2016
In the US, Google has been offering free Wi-Fi to select
cities via its Google Fiber program. According to the Google website, it offers
1000 Mbps for $130, but that also includes a TV set top box, TV content of 150+
channels and 1 TB of cloud storage space. Since Google only needs to provide
internet connectivity, this price falls further. Again for the sake of
convenience, let’s consider that figure to be $100 or approximately Rs 6600. To
cover 100 stations, that’s Rs 6,60,000.
Now every additional investment made would be towards
enhancing the browsing experience while on the Google network. This would mean
providing 10Gbps at some stations and lesser at certain other stations. Given
the costs associated, couldn’t the Indian Railways make such a service
available in all these years?
We may never know the real numbers. But, this is definitely
something India could do. India certainly possesses the capabilities to do so.
PSU , Railtel Corporation of India, has all the technology
and network required to do this (http://www.railtelindia.com/)
It is a great initiative by Google and must be appreciated but couldn’t it have been an Indian telecom operator that took
this as a responsibility?

It Is All In Your Mind
It Is All In Your Mind
It was Angkor Wat town Siem Reap, Cambodia. Amazing place. Extremely friendly people.
I returned to my hotel after rather exhausting trip to millennium old temple complex. As I was walking by hotel reception, a young pretty and petit girl asked me, "Sir, full body massage?"
Having heard not so good things about body massage in South East Asia, I smiled and said, "No. Thank you."
"Sir, it is complimentary from the hotel. Please don't miss this experience" she continued.
I said rather firmly, "Miss. Thanks but no thanks. I rather take hot bath in petal cover tub in my room."
She was insistent & continued, "Sir, you are my first customer today. Hotel pays me per customer I serve. Please!!"
I could not say no to that innocent face.
She took me to the massage room. There was a mattress on the floor covered with glow white sheets. Cambodian soft music; hardly audible volume was playing. Refreshing incenses candle was burning in the corner. She gave me loose fitting gown to slip into.
As I lay on the mattress, she started her work. The ambience and her soft hand were magical. The hour long massage is another story.
Towards end of the session, she took my head in her lap and started massaging my scalp.
"Did I do something wrong?" She asked, "Why are you crying?"
I did not answer. I simply got up, gave her rather good tip and started walking out.
Bewildered look on her face compelled me to tell her,
"As you were massaging my scalp, I remembered the massage that my late mother did when I was a small child”
It is all in your mind!!
